THIS FIRST POST MAY BE A BIT LONG, BUT DON'T LET THAT INTIMIDATE YOU, PLEASE. THE ACTUAL CONVERSING CAN BE AS SHORT AS ONE SENTENCE, BUT THERE ARE THINGS TO CLEAR UP BEFOREHAND. Welcome to the Boar's Head Tavern, a freeform role-playing thread which follows the traditional conversational RP'ing with a bit of narrative thrown into the mix for an interesting experience.
If you are interested in playing, I have a few rules you really do have to follow:
- First off, respect any decisions I make for the better of the group.
- Write in a readable form. No txt or 1337 speak, please.
- Anything you have to discuss about this, bring it up in the RP Discussion thread, try to use ((out-of-character)) loosely in here.
- Remember, you are in-character at all times - so don't take insults personally. Take them as if it was said to your character, not you.
- You cannot force other characters to do something, you can attack them but cannot say they are now dead. Only the owner of the char can respond as such, unless I get involved and it is blatently obvious.
- Have fun! Seriously, no point in joining in if you aren't going to have some fun and spread some.
((anything inside quotes will be regarded as out-of-character)) The tavern is set in the typical fantasy setting, so no "Hey George, my X-box 360 blew up yesterday so I went and killed a space dinosaur in my Millennium Ninjafalcon!" Keep with the theme here folks - if you have no clue what I mean, just read my post and follow suite. Lastly, I'd rate this thread Teen from this point on as you are free to write how your character would respond. Keep the cussing to a minimum please, you know what words would be acceptable and what ones wouldn't be. Use your head. If you feel offended by this, leave now. I will be a character (Shaden) and the bartender (Shianne). Everyone else should really only have one character... until they get their ass kicked in the bar and die... let's hope it doesn't come to that though. So naturally, I will have longer posts (two characters, and the narrator of tavern events such as weather and what-not. No one else has to worry about anything but themselves. xD
<----------> Nestled in the back corner of the silent town, Nivave, sat an aged tavern. The wood is rustic in color and has chipped and flakey ends every few inches. Thick, arched glass windows ran across the sides of the building; each of them battered with smoke and grime on the inside, the outsides weathered and scratched. A large balcony rests over the wide doorway, looking over the peaceful town. Hanging off the frontal area of the balcony is a large wooden sign with a boars head carved in a deep golden-brown. The words "Boar's Head Tavern" are clearly burnt into the sign.
The building looked as if it could fall down any minute; but most people who stopped here had bigger problems to escape than such a trivial worry. The windows are filled with a bright orange-yellow light, and the black figures of humans can be seen inside; moving, dancing, sitting and drinking. The closer you approach, the more you can hear. People are singing, cheering, hooting, and howling. The muffled conversations of the patrons can be heard as you step under the balcony, making way for the door... <----------> The lighting was dim, a few lanterns burning here and there, the glowing flames rhythmically swaying back and forth. Strange animalistic heads lined the upper walls, their eerie eyes forever gazing upon the patrons. The air was filled thick with smoke and had that musky, typical tavern smell. The regulars were all roused, circled around a table with several stacks of coins and a pair of wooden dice. Shaden stepped inside, closing the door softly behind him. He wore a dark, hooded cloak made from what looked like bear-hide. He drew little attention as he made his way up to the bar and plopped down on one of the creaky old stools. "Evening m'dear." The bartender, a voluptuous brunette, turned casually over to face the man. She rolled her eyes and smiled, "The usual, I presume?" "You know it." Shianne turned her back to him, filling a mug with some honey-colored liquid, foaming wildly and spilling out onto her hands. "Nice weather were having, eh?" "Beautiful weather. Constant downpours, endless black skies, and nerve wrecking thunder and lighting every other hour." Sarcasm was heavy in her voice. "I've seen better days, Shaden." She turned back and let the mug fall before him, leaning close to his face, her elbows resting on the bar counter. "So, what has the scum of the world been up to lately?" "Ah, you speak so highly of me, I appreciate that." Shaden laughed a bit, then continued. "You know, a little of this, little of that. The good stuff." Her nose wrinkled and she stood back up. "You always were the open one... then again, in your business I guess it's always better to play it safe." Shianne winked at him, giving a knowing note that she knew of his 'business' and past. "So, should I pull up a room key for ya' or you headin' out tonight?" Shaden glanced around the tavern. "Might as well stay here, after all, I have everything a man needs, eh? Booze, some... friends, a warm room, and the beautiful Shianne!" The bartender giggled at his comment. Shaden shook his head laughing, Shianne walking off to deal with another customer, and gulped down the hard ale. He took a glance around the room. "Nothing exciting happening tonight and not a single out-of-towner in sight." His gaze fell upon the fireplace, where he stared endlessly waiting for something interesting to happen. Shianne walked by quite a bit refilling his mug whenever it needed it. Neither of them talked much as the night was dragging on slowely and was fairly busy for her.
A rumble of thunder could be heard above the voices inside. The mugs lined against the wall rattled for a moment before falling still once more. Shortly after, the bar was assaulted by a heavy rain, the droplets crashing into the roof, creating a loud roar inside. It was, however, quickly drowned out by the cheering of the men and women inside - ignoring the world outside and just having a good time. (( If anyone is wondering the point to this or if there is a plotline we should go on about; don't wonder, just write. It's just a fun, little RP thing I've done many time before on several boards and it worked out fairly well. I only hope I can pull in enough people here. Remember, your posts do not have to be that big. Maybe your first one... but thats it. This is FREEFORM more or less, so go wild... but you know, not too wild.)) ((Also, I do not consider myself a good writer, but I love this kind of stuff so bear with me here.))

Strolling down from the creaking wooden stairs, a woman glittered of radiance. Many of the young men, and drunk beggars beared witness to her, as she approached the tavern floor. She is dressed in a lightly colored moonlight blue skirt, and a V shaped top of the same hue. Her hair as dark as the shadows, swayed from shoulder to shoulder. A sash of vibrant teal, strapped to her waistline, was her little toy for flirting, as she tossed and twirled it gracefully around her body. Various gold jewelery were dressed on her arms, hands, neck, and even her ankles. She walked with a poise and sensual posture, as she focused her beautiful onyx colored eyes, on the boy at the bar. She props herself up onto the bar, and lounges on the long wooden table, and starts to twittle with a napkin ring. "I don't believe we have been formally introduced; I am Neera," stretching her arm sensually awaiting for the boy to greet her, with a hand shake or maybe a kiss . . .
One day at a time, may be one day too late.

Shaden was taken aback and performed a double-take to make sure she was actually speaking to him. After all, this woman was gorgeous - she had the qualities of a noble and her enigmatic presence swept him off his feet. And Shaden, well, he was gruff and unshaven, many outdoorsman qualities about him. He raised his brow and bowed forward a bit, grabbing hold of her delicate hand and held it up. "Why, good evenin' m'lady, and what pleasure do I owe a visit from one such as yourself?" He finished his line with a soft kiss to her soft hand, letting it fall slowly back onto the bar.
Almost forgetting to introduce himself, Shaden quickly spurt out some more lines. "Ahem, I am Shaden... a... skinner from the south. Aye, that'd be me. Doing some business up here at town... you know...merchant stuff." He lied so easily, his tone not changing and his face remaining completely straight. Perhaps his eyes could be read, but he had been lying his whole life. It was nothing new to him, and was hardly a challenge anymore.
"Ah, would you like a drink? On me o‘ course."

Well...it isn't as if you're going to find another spot for rest any time soon...I really need to buy a pack horse. Kari'ti thought to herself, laughing right out loud when she spied the signpost. "Aye, a warm bed, a few lechers, and some coin in my pocket!" She did not care in the least that the folk milling outside the tavern doors could hear. A musico (a female bard focused on enchanting)...and a talented one at that...was allowed to have quirks. The instruments of her trade, such as the lute, the harp, the drums, and the xylosphere were secured in brightly colored cases, locked down and warded with a muse's curse. Musicos shrouded themselves in too much clothing for one to tell whether it was beautiful or not. Her face was covered by a purple veil, the varied curves of her body draped in vibrant blues with silver lining. It was this sort of woman who came into the Boar's Head, setting her cases down upon the nearest availiable table. Unlike bards who whooped and hollered and carried on with all manner of drunken folks- Kari'ti had reserve. She wanted a moment to rest and take in the scenery, and time to over hear who was who, and who wanted whom as a lover, and who was rumored to be a murderer. The time for song and for perhaps meeting others would come later.

*THUNK THUNK*
"Crap," whispered a woman underneath a musty sagging bed in what
was supposed to be the "honeymoon suite" of the Boar's Head.
"Why do I always get myself into these situations?" she thought to
herself, at the same time feeling a rat and who-knows-what-else running over
her leg, and suppressing a shudder. She was slightly taller than average
with pale skin, blue eyes, and bright red hair that would fly everywhere if it
was not tightly held in control by a thick black sash. Looking at her you could
only see one dagger in her waistband, but if you really looked you just
knew there were at least 5 more hidden on her body somewhere, and each one
ready to kill as needed, or just get her what she wanted. With her clothes,
she looked as if she was surrounded in shadow, and would look exactly like one
if not for the fairness of her complexion.
"Where is that damnable locket?" said the man who had made the
loud noise before, and was currently pacing the room. He was large and looked a
lot more like muscle than brain. The woman clutched her pocket, which
contained a small golden locket. She had worked too hard to get into this room
and steal it; no way was some muscles-for-brains stealing it from her. But
how to get out of this situation?
"HAHAHAHA - hic" she said from underneath the bed, in as drunken a
way as she could. She felt two large hands grab her and pull her from under the
bed.
"What are you doing in here? This is not a room for little girls to be
playing in." snarled the man.
She tried to look confused and crossed her eyes. "Ish that you Magnus?
You really shouldn't drinksh anymores. That liqure is a mean mishtresh."
She herself had no idea who "magnus" was but was hoping this would
confuse mr. muscle man into thinking she had just drunkenly stumbled into the
wrong room and would just let her walk out.
"What? I'm sure you are more than a little gone but the boss said he
didn't want me messing around with anyone unless it was absolutely necessary."
He opened the door and tossed her out like a ragdoll. "Go and get drunk in
your own room, whore"
The woman was sure that the room was not his either, but didn't make a fuss
seeing as she was out of the room and had what she had came for. She
snaked down the stairs, managing not to be noticed in all the hustle and
started to the door. At the last second, she had a gut feeling that she
should just stay and be part of the shadows of the tavern to see what was going
to happen. The woman always followed her gut instinct, and as she was still not
dead, Morgan knew that her gut was one of the only things she could trust.

"Ehehhmm," flirtatiously laughing at the question," You flatter me . . Shaden. Call Shianne, and ask her to fetch me a mug of rum." Shifting her body so that her back lay ontop the table. She relaxingly lounged her body into askew poses. " I have always been so fascinated by the human body. The way it moves, the way it expresses emotion, and sensuality. I have always been drawn to the art of dance, it is the reason I followed my passion to become a gypsie. I had realized one day that my dancing enchanted the men among my audiences." Her sensuality had been drawing unneeded attention from the many drunken men at the dining table. "Since my enchanting came to fruition I have been, even more, inspired to dance. So . . . Shaden, what do you sell? . . You are a merchant aren't you?"
One day at a time, may be one day too late.

"Shianne, pull out one of those finer mugs and fill her with rum for Miss Neera here." Shianne looked over, slightly disgusted, but muttered a 'sweet' "Of course" under her breath. Shaden pried his eyes off the womans body, trying to keep himself from looking at her so rudely like half the patrons who were now staring at her body. Out of the corner of his eye, Shaden noticed two more females had joined the group. One of them seemed nervous and he had thought she was running out - but pulled herself back into one of the darker corners of the tavern. Suspicous. The other female looked like a musician; she had taken a seat at an empty table a bit away from his own. He had nearly forgot Neera exsisted as he looked around - but Shianne had slammed a mug down in front of them, startling him and bringing him back into the conversation. She walked away, a bitter taste in her mouth, "Enjoy." Shaden regained his composure and looked into Neera's eyes. "Aye, a merchant of sorts. Sell furs and hides to the tailors and what-not around the cities. I come up north around here to hunt.... What brings 'you' here, I mean you look more like a princess, or perhaps an angel from the gods?" He laughed jokingly, waiting patiently for a response. <----------> Shianne glanced around the tavern lobby. It was filling pretty fast and the men and women were getting rowdy due to the lack of music tonight. The rain pounded at the glass windows still, violet flashes englufing the room every now and then. The bartender sighed and headed over to the young female who had just taken seat at one of the tables. "Evening dear, can I get you anything to drink?" Shianne looked her up and down interestingly.

"Damn this weather." A man with a modest dark brown cloak said waiting just by the door. He also wore a
thin but very dirty white tank-top with what looks like a very long
knife sticking out from the side of his belt watched the last man who
came by. "Hmph...." He didn't move, as he stood by the large window,
like if he was waiting for someone. The man searched around with his
pale blue eyes, seeing if anyone else was to enter the tavern, then
slowly looked back down continuing to fiddle with a ring that looked
exactly to the one on his right hand. As he heard a rustle, it was just
his mind, staying outside wasn't too smart, so he reluctantly turns
around to open the door, the people didn't pay much attention to him,
as he casually took his time looking for a corner to sit in, to get a
hold of what's going on in the tavern. As he sat down, he spoke to
himself,"So what do we have here?" He stared at the bartender as he
took his hood off showing his blond spiky hair. The man leaned back on
his chair keeping an eye on the bartender, expecting for some service,
and where he is since the rain poured too heavily to know the location
of the tavern.

Neera gasps, " Kari!!! Where have you been my faithful bardess?!! I have been looking everywhere for you since your run off with *whispers*, you know who!! Anyway I can't believe we are in the same tavern after all this time apart, Oh where has the time gone? Come, come sit over by the bar with me and my new friend," she winks back at Shaden. " Hey I got a great idea, why don't we liven up these lovely people with a little dance and music woohoo!! Neera is now as rambunctious as a girl could be. Her lovable sweetness and fun nature had seem to rowdy up the folks in the bar. However, Shianne didn't seem to be non too impressed by Neera's proposition. Neera seems to have completely become obnoxious towards everything Shianne was trying to say. C'mon, Kari'Ti, whaddya say, or should I say what should we play?!! . . .

Shaden leaned back on his chair, sipping the rest of his ale. His eyes were fixated on the females who, apparently, knew eachother and were probably going to dance... and sing. He smiled wily, enjoying the thought. Shaden glanced around the tavern again, it was growing dimmer as the night dragged on and the fire turned into mere embers. That was when he took notice in another man who must have entered not long ago - he was soaking wet. He suddenly felt awkward, he couldn't explain the feeling, like butterflies in his stomach. Shaden put his hand on the back of his leg, rubbing it. His fingers met a sharp blade with a firm, hard leather handle. He pulled his hand back into the light. "Hum... always an interesting party at the Boars Head," he said gleefully, putting on a happy face and standing up. "Pleasure to meet ya'... Kari it was? But yes, I agree, let's see some dancing, lets get some music going here, how about it folks?" Most of the people hanging around the lobby cheered and began chanting, "Dance and sing!" He gave the girls a wink. "Whadd'ya say babes?" <----------> Shianne made her way around the people who were up and cheering for the girls. She stopped near one of the newcomers tables and gave him a hearty smile. "Welcome to the Boars Head, what can I get ya' tonight dear? A towel, perhaps," the bartender said, laughing at the man who had built up quite a puddle underneath his chair.

The man looked up, putting away his ring and spoke to the bartender. "Maybe a towel would work for my cloak, but for me, I'd like to have some red wine, if there is any left." He gave a smile to her, amused of her humor and quickly scanned the tavern once again. He completely took off his cloak which looked like a very damp piece of leather as he put it off to the side, leaving only a white tank-top and long black pants, as well as the knife placed on his back, clipped to a hole in the belt.

Kari'ti's eyes rolled behind her veil, the exasperated expression on her face hidden- but the emotion expressed by a little quirk of her shoulders. How had they come to be in the same tavern?! Oh she remembered that dancer alright...outgoing as they came, while Kari'ti's reserve kept her from mingling as easy. Still, she tugged the blue hair scarf closer around her hair to be sure no ends of the braids were showing, then waved slowly. "Oh dear..." The air around her brightened, indicating that she smiled brilliantly behind her veil. "Hello! How do you do, darling Neera?" She made a kissy noise toward the other, then waved to all around her, "Kari'ti, if you will please," she said as an aside to Shaden. "Ah, song and dance...Shall we dance together as I sing and play? How lucky for our audience that they have found us together.." Giggling gently, Kari'ti made a waving motion and opened a sphere-shaped case, revealing the silver xylo-sphere inside and a set of mallets. "What mischief are you getting up to? And better yet.." she leaned forward, "What treats shall we offer our fellows?"
