    Forum Etiquette

     Now I know that Brice's "Welcome to Providence" post has most of this information in here, but apparently no one is reading it and just jumping to here.  Yet, most of this information is GREAT information, and should be at least taken into consideration before posting around the forums.  (Plus, for some reason, when you click on the "Rules" forum it tells you that there are no posts.  Instead you have to click on Brice's post directly...)  Anyway, without further ado:

    Golden Rule 1 - SEARCH Before You Post! - It's really nice that everyone's really interested in Closed Beta.  We all want Warrior Epic to be an amazing game, and good/passionate beta testers can really help take a game above and beyond.  But there is no need to keep asking the same questions about Closed Beta (when does it start, where can I download, etc.) when most of them have been answered in various places already.

    So, before making a post, please use the search function located at the top of the page and search for the terms related to your question.  If nothing appears, then go ahead and post it up and everyone will try to help you out.

    Confused as to where to find the search?  It's located in the top, next to the graphic of the man with the evil glowing red eyes.

    And, even if you have seen someone who has posted the same topic that you know someone else posted, don't freak out.  Just respond back to their post with a friendly, "Hey, we're already discussing this over at this thread," and give them the link to the previous discussion so they can add to the conversation.

    Golden Rule 2 - THINK Before You Post! - Unlike most instant messenger conversations, you have a near-unlimited time to respond to a person's request.  Please use this time wisely and craft your post accordingly.  Try to make your post contribute to the forum and add to the general conversation.  "Warrior Epic is AWESOMESAUCE!" is a very true statement, but perhaps does not need its own thread.

    If you're about to flame someone, take your time and write your post carefully, perhaps taking a couple minutes off from the forum before you go ahead and post it up.  You might find out that you really didn't need to flame after all.  Lesson here is that time is endless on a forum - use it.

    Golden Rule 3 - CHECK Before You Post! - Is your new thread going to be in the right forum?  Make sure that your great new thread is in the right spot, otherwise a moderator may come along and move it or remove it.  (Most likely move it.)  So save your friendly moderator the hassle and double check that you're posting it to the right place.  If you need some help, the forums that you can post in are as follows:

    Introduce Yourself Here! - Say hi to the Warrior Epic community and we'll say hi right back!  Post your introductory threads here.

    General Discussion - (The place where you are right now.)  This area is the place to discuss general things about the upcoming game, Warrior Epic.  If you just want to discuss anything with the rest of the Warrior Epic community, you want the Listening Post.

    Developers Corner - If you want to talk to the developers of Warrior Epic, the Possibility Space team, then this is the forum you want.  They'll be glad to discuss some of the game mechanics with you, and you can make suggestions about what you would like to see in their game.

    The Quad - The Quad is all of the off topic space for the Warrior Epic community, where you can come and chat about various topics unrelated to Warrior Epic.   There are dedicated forums for console games (games on your Xboxes, PlayStations and whatnot), drawing, making your own spam, music, movies, anime, game reviews, indie games, and writing.  If your post doesn't fall in any of those categories, you want the Listening Post.

    Golden Rule 4 - FORMAT Before You Post! - posting lke this duz not read easily CuZ all teh wordz r written in 10 secs or less and puncutation haz DiEd so in konklusion u shuld chek speeliNG ND PUNCTUation nd cap$ b4 postin dat thred

    Once again, take your time before you post and format your post neatly.  It will greatly help out anyone else who wants to read what you have to say, and then they'll be able to respond more accurately to your thoughts.  Plus, if it's hard to read then chances are that people are going to skip over what you have to say.  You don't want that, right?

    Golden Rule 5 - PREVIEW Before You Post! - Up in the corner of the post you'll see four tabs.  "Compose", "Options", "Related", and "Preview".  This rule is concerning the "preview" tab.  Before you slap that post button, check out the preview and see how it's going to look when it goes up on our forum.  Perhaps you might notice some mistakes, or maybe you want to change some words or links around?  It's always good to go back and double check.

    And that's it!  Follow these guidelines and your posts and threads will help us all to discuss Warrior Epic and make this game one of the best MMORPGs out there.

     Nice post. I don't really think that it will make an impact to the spammers and flammers but i salute the initiative.

    Re: Forum Etiquette

    Hi hi hi... Nice post indeed, but completely useless (in my opinion).

    As you pointed out in your introduction :

    OctalBlack:

    Now I know that Brice's "Welcome to Providence" post has most of this information in here, but apparently no one is reading it [...]

    As Dzan said it, I'm sure that people who don't search, think, check, format & preview before posting will never read "Brice's rules" post and will never read this one (too long to read for them).

    Again : I agree with everything that you said, but, well... Confused

    Nice Post :D!

    I read the rules, and try my best to fallow the rules. Of courses they should be taken serously like you said. They are the rules of the forums. I hope people will not over look the rules because I would hate to repeat things over to many times, even though I don't mind helping.

    Re: Forum Etiquette

     Yeah, my whole thought on this one was that they might be skipping the rules area, but mostly because people jump right for the general discussion area.  So, maybe we can catch them if we put some basic rules and thoughts down where they post the most often. :)

    Gotta love want-to-be mods.  I'm sure everyone knows this already and this board is no different from any other.  People will double post and post about topics that have already been discussed, it will always happen so I don't see a problem with it.  I beleive this has been going on since boards were invinted so I don't see it changing and I don't see how it bothers you that much cause I barley notice it.

    But I guess atleast you think your trying to help which is nice.

    Re: Forum Etiquette

    I wouldn't label this as 'modding'. She posted a short guide to netiquette on web boards; it's not like she singled out anyone and told him off for doing <insert offense>.

    On a sidenote, when I tried to read the 'Rules' post, I was unable to do so, it just didn't display to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

    if(computer.fail==true) {
    background.setColor(blue);
    user.frown;
    sys.shutdown();
    user.scream("OH, *** YOU!");};

    Re: Forum Etiquette

     Er...geeesh... I didn't think that post deserved calling me a want-to-be-mod.  I just want to help new people and our discussions.  Seriously.  It doesn't annoy me, I just want to help us not have the same topic 10 times.  And, yes, it does work, I've been on boards where people hardly moderate and everyone can follow the rules and really keep the board spiffy.

    Perhaps less negativity, yes?

    I pretty much despise wanna-be moderators, but I don't see Octal as one. She simply made a guideline, similar to a guide on how to play a certain MMO, to make the game easier on newcomers; it isn't anywhere close to suck-up to GMs, it's just to help others out, it's voluntary except the only reward from it are people who read and follow it.

    It may be uncalled for, but it's someone else's opinion, there isn't much of a way to change it. Fortunately some people understand what you're trying to do here, I'm glad you actually made this topic, since most people avoid reading anything with a title related to "rules". I believe that if this topic lives on, the guidelines will actually be followed, and people may use the search button for once! There could be more added, or it could be shortened, but as long as it's here, I'm happy that you posted it.

    rule #4

     as humans we are intelligent enough to understand what we see and those of us who unfortunately arent intelligent enough can guess... does everything have to be gramaticaly and politicaly correct?:S

    WTH happened to those few basic rights we have.. its like telling someone foreign to speak english without their accent.. makes no sense..

    im not saying we shouldnt take 10 seconds and read what we typed.. just remember some of us aka me speak 6 languages.. english is not my native or second or third fav language.. i dont know all the words but im learning + i dont like punctuation.. makes me look too mature..
