Greetings Everyone,
I have compiled a list of questions that stem from forum based interviews I have performed on the net. Most of these questions have come from the onRPG community, so if you read the thread in the onRPG forums already, this will be a review. If you have a question that has not been answered, feel free to ask it here. All that I ask is that you NOT "quote" this post.
Since combat is very important to
me, how will this game's combat work? Any special features that set
it apart from the many "click and wait" type of combat?
Will skill of the player outdo gear (reasonable gaps of course)?
The combat in Warrior Epic is one of
our primary focal points. We, like you, all play games ourselves and
understand that a pretty game with a poor combat system is not very
appealing. That being said, when in combat, there will be very little
"waiting". You will have to be on your toes constantly
because the number of times you get to use your skills in an instance
will be limited and your teammates will depend on you understanding
what skills to use and when. To explain further, a great deal of
strategy will have to be used in order to succeed. You can not just
storm into an instance and start smashing everything...that wont
work. You will have to work in unison and communicate with your
party, while attacking, buffing, and using skills to defeat your
enemies.
Will there be pets or Mounts
available in Warrior Epic?
No plans have been made to incorporate
mounts into Warrior Epic. Pets could be integrated into some of the
warrior classes that we add after launch.
Will I be able to customize my
characters?
Everything in our game is completely
customizable. Armor, Weapons, Appearance....we really want people to
create a unique hall full of warriors that are distinctly theirs.
Is there going to be PvP?
PvP will be part of the game play in
Warrior Epic.
How will
the F2P + Cash Shop work? Are the items in the cash shop going to be
vanity items (armor color change, new hair, etc) or things that can
actually effect the game itself?
Many of the items that we will sell in
our game will be of a "vanity" type. Tattoos, hair, skin,
eyes, you name it. However, there will be things for sale that will
affect the game play as well. Some of the warrior classes will only
be available as a purchase..as well as some equipment and potion
based buffs. Please remember that you cannot go into our game and
spend a bunch of money and become the strongest person in the game.
Money does not buy power here.
Are the Warrior Classes Gender
Locked?
The classes are, in a sense, gender
locked. That is, the "Devotress" class consists of female
warriors. Please note that for some of the later classes, we may
decide to implement the option to choose either male or female.
Will there be a “Rogue” type
class?
The "Vanisher" is similar to
a rogue-type class. He uses stealth tactics and dual wields short
arm-blade type weapons.
How will the camera function in the
game?
The camera is isometric but can be
rotated and zoomed in close to the action.
As for
cash shop payment, how are the prices going to be ranged? Most of us
gamers
are students (usually from middle school ~ College) so we really
don't have any money making kind of opportunities. However I am a big
cash shop fan (Maple Story killed mine and my cousin's bank accounts
._.), and after MS our parents are limiting how much cash we can
actually spend on games.
Are things in the cash shop (such as
tattoos, armors, and eyes) going to be ridiculously overpriced like
Flyff? And are certain items from cash shop going to be required
during game play? Again this is because some games had it so that to
upgrade weapons you actually had to buy things from the cash shop
itself.
Useful
items will be as little as a few cents, with the average functional
item being less than a dollar. Some cosmetic items could command
higher prices but we do not believe that a free game should require
you to purchase items at ridiculous prices in order to enjoy the
experience. If you choose to never spend a dime, it will still be
possible to have a very satisfying experience with our game.
As a
female gamer,
I have to say gender-locked games can sometimes be a little..
Concerning. While a lot of chiccas do enjoy support and "stand
back" classes like Priests, Buffers and Mages, are there classes
to appease us melee, big ass weapon loving girls?
Trust me, the "big ass weapon loving girls" in our
community will be well taken care of.
Will
they're be a bunches of quests? Or just another grind for exp. How is
the character customization gonna be like?
There
will be writers working around the clock so that we can deliver a
constant stream of story-quality quests. Quests and other content
will be added monthly. It doesn't matter how great a game is, if you
get stuck grinding out levels, it can get boring pretty quickly.
If I
understand well, the game is mainly instanced ? Or is there some
kinda persistent aspect in the game ?
How do you manage the PvP ?
Instance only ? Ladder ? .. etc ?
Adventures are instanced with your party. PvP will be
"awesome"...that is all I can say for now, but I will keep
you guys posted as I am able to release details about the game. The
thing that you will work on the most is building up your "Hall".
Your hall can be visited by other players and will function as a
house for your warriors, your trophies, and your accomplishments. The
bigger and badder you hall, the stronger you look in our game.
Will
there be more characters to be implemented to what released now?
There will
be at least 10 classes available at launch. Character classes will be
added regularly. Contests and polls will also be held so that our
players can have a direct impact on the type of content, such as
classes, that will go into Warrior Epic.
My
question, assuming there is some storyline in the game.
To
your opinion, will the story drag the person along as in
Oblivion/Baldur's gate. Where in even if you try to avoid to read any
conversations, you'll know the basic story anyway.
Or will it
be like most games where getting into the storyline requires a load
of patience and reading?
We
have created an entirely unique fantasy universe. Simply interacting
in the world will tell a story. However, a significant amount of the
story will be delivered via the primary "Campaign" quests.
Discussions have even taken place that have pertained to creating
digital graphic novels and distributing them through our website.
The world beyond the Kingdom of Providence is wild and there is a lot
going on...we will tell you about it using many different
methods.
Will the game support something like an afk
leveler?
If someone goes afk while playing through a quest, it is likely that
they will do so at their own expense and the expense of their party.
There is a lot of action, with a large variety of enemies who all
want to kill your warriors. When you enter an adventure instance, you
will have a limited number of resources and it is possible to die in
an instance. If you die, you will not be able to rejoin the party
unless a member is capable of resurrecting.
I am glad that
you are excited about our game!
Based on
game play, will teamwork be very important? If so, what special party
features do you wish to incorporate in your game?
Teamwork is beyond important in Warrior Epic. You will have to work
well with others if you want to make some serious progress in Warrior
Epic. This is due to our specialized class system. You warriors will
each be specialized and effective against certain types of enemies.
In other words, if you want an effective party, it will need to be
diverse and you will have to cooperate with your team in order to
bring out the full potential of your warriors.
Tell us
or show us that this game has something that other game don't have.
Let
me begin by saying that I love Bleach. Okay, back to the point.
Warrior Epic is deviating quite a bit from the stereotypical MMO mold
that has dominated the market. To begin, your warriors are
disposable. Now, this doesn't mean that they are shallow and lack the
features of other rpg games. Each warrior class is fully featured
with its own skills, equipment, and customization. If you die while
you are in an adventure, your warrior's spirit is transported to your
hall. At this point you will be faced with two options: You can
return to your hall and resurrect your warrior so that they may fight
again, or you may actually "equip" your warrior’s spirit
on another character and use it as a special ability in battle. The
strength and effectiveness of a spirit attack directly correlates
with the strength and level of the warrior at the time of their
death. These attacks can save the party and are incredibly
entertaining
to watch.
Also, the concept of having a "Hall" is
innovated to this genre as well. You will really want to trick out
your Hall in Warrior Epic. Adding rooms will give you access to
special equipment, warriors, buffs, and more.
We
are working very hard to ensure that people stay interested in our
game regardless of how little or how much time they want to invest in
it. One way we have done this is by setting up a reward
system that gives loot and exp after completing a quest. Part of
catering to both casual and hardcore gamers involves taking the
extreme time commitments out of the game. So for the casual gamers
out there, you will be able to sit down for short periods of time and
still accomplish many things in Warrior Epic....for the hardcore
gamers, if you want to play for 10 hours straight...you will feel
well compensated for your time investment.
Grinding:
is grinding really bad? It's always a turn off when a game is too
questy, or too grindy.
Game play: Is the environment reactive?
Can you break boxes, statues, etc? Does it require a lot of
maintenance on the keyboard such as attacking then potting, with a
mix of skills thrown into the battle.
Money: As archers being
my favorite class, Ive noticed archers get owned cause of the
currency of arrows, how is the currency being let out?
Grinding:
You will gain a reasonable amount of exp from slaying beasts and
completing quests.
Game Play: There will be many breakable
objects and quite a bit of looting in Warrior Epic. This is not a
recharge game, so when you go to battle strategy must be used so that
you do not use all of your resources (pots, heals, attacks)....every
encountered will require thought and communication with the rest of
the party.
Money: You're in luck! Projectile ammunition will
not be limited. Also, the dungeon archer can hold his own in close
combat by using a short blade for melee encounters.
Will
there be huge AoE weapon swinging around?
Several of the warrior classes will have Attack on Everything type
skills.
Regarding
on skills, how many skills are there for each class? Usually, I get
bored when there is so little skills (maybe like less than 10). I
just hate using one powerful skill (Or 2-3 skills) for the next 10+
levels? Or whatever. I get sick of games that has too little skills
at a certain level(s) and too far apart. I like to play games that
has many skills (Not too little skills) that are not THAT far apart
to reach in order to gain another skill.
Are the
skills flashy? Haha. xD Skills that are flashy quite amuse me and
keeps me entertained for some reason.
every warrior class will be fully featured and have complete skill
trees. There will be many skills for each class, some of them will be
small, and some of them will be grand in execution. If you like
flashy skills, then you will love it when people summon warrior
spirits!
Ive got
a question, will there be GM hosted events?
Sorry but this is one of those important things I look for in an
MMORPG.
There will be all kinds of interaction taking place between
Possibility Space and our players. You will be able to help shape a
great deal of the content in the game by entering contests, answering
polls, and giving suggestions. Warrior Epic will have a strong
in-game community due to its emphasis on team play. So it is likely
that there will be special "events" that players will be
able to participate in.
Will
there be a clan/guild system? If so how will it work?
Team play is essential in Warrior Epic, so naturally, people will be
prone to joining/creating guilds. We want that process to be easily
managed by players. New details regarding the guild system have yet
TBA. In the event that advances are made in this area, I will post
information in this forum
So ..
you slept well and all ?

and
.. can I have a CB account when it comes out ? I have cookies ....
I do like cookies

Make
sure you register and leave a valid email at our game site...there is
a very high probability that anyone who I talk to here will get into
the CB if they are interested....ESPECIALLY people with cookies.
I had a
question about classes, are there going to be summoners? Or like a
puppeteer class?
Because of our specialized class system, the number and types of
classes that are going to be offered throughout the course of the
game will be virtually limitless. That being said, there will be a
HUGE variety of class types to choose from. You will be really
surprised by some of the stuff you will get to play as. Demi-gods,
gazers, giant fire-spewing dirt worms...we are only limited by ideas,
which isn't really a limitation at all. Quite a bit of fun will be
had as we create new and unique warrior classes that no one has ever
played before.
Will
Warrior Epic have unique monsters/bosses? Usually when I play mmos,
there are so many enemies that are a reused so many times. To a
certain point it just becomes utterly boring when you're fighting the
same thing over and over.
One thing that can cause a game to get boring very quickly is
repetition and lack of variety. There will be bosses, as well as
sub-bosses. Also...every adventure is intelligently populated by
monsters. What I mean is, the monsters that you would encounter if
you were to go solo would be much different than the ones that you
would find if you were in a large group. The strength, breed, and
number of monsters that you will encounter increases with the size of
your party. This does not mean that "green dragons" are now
"red dragons", which are faster and stronger...it means
that the types of monsters you will face will change dynamically with
the size and strength of your party. It also means that the loot
found by a big party will be much better than that which is found if
you were to play solo.
Will we get an ignore list ?
Friend and Ignore Lists will be available.
Is any of the game play like Diablo
2? It looks like it, in a way?
There are some aspects of Warrior Epic that will be similar to D2.
That being said, our game will play like Warrior Epic, meaning that
this is not a clone of any game on the market.
Will huge content updates be Bittorrent/Direct Downloads, or will
they just be gigantic patches? (I have some friends that might want
to play, but have poor internet connections.)
And will there
be the option of making custom guild emblems that you can upload to
the game? (Sorry if this question was asked before.)
We have actually innovated a unique
distribution system, Download on Demand, that enables people to hit
our site, register, grab a tiny file, and be playing in game within
minutes. The technology we are basing this system on is very similar
to torrents.
To begin the process, you will visit our site and
download a very small (~400kb) .exe file. You will not even have to
install the game onto your computer...it
will run from the folder you save it in. When you execute the file,
you will be connected to "Seed" servers that will be
strategically placed around the globe. These servers will function as
permanent seeders that will deliver the game content to you, as you
need it.
The greatest aspect of this feature is the
portability of our game. Since all of your game assets will be stored
in our servers, you will be able to play on your account from
anywhere in the world on just about any computer...and within minutes
of grabbing a single small file from our site. This is going to make
Warrior Epic extremely accessible to people, even if they go on
vacation
or want to get some quests in at the campus library.
I've
read through the Q/A's as they were posted, but I don't remember if
it was asked-- how many warriors can you have in your hall?
There is currently not a cap on the number of warriors you can keep
in your hall. However, this may change and a cap may be applied so
that the number of warriors in a single hall is "reasonable".
It would be awfully difficult to pick your warriors in a hall that
had 80983012938091823 characters in it. If and when a concrete number
is determined I will let you know.
"Don't you think it will be hard to chose a class when there
are to many??" - That is the beauty of it. You will not just
pick a single class and devote a hundred hours of play time to one
single character. Instead, you will manage an entire group of
warriors at the same time.
"I hope you make a lot of single player missions because if
there aren't many people online you can still play
"
- There will be just as much content for solo play as there will be
for team play. If you want lots of people to be online, then tell
your friends to register
"Where is your server located??? north America?" -
We will have servers located around the globe.
"Will there be enough dungeons to play?? because many people
dont like repeating dungeons " - Our adventures will use
randomly generated assets. This alleviates any issues about
terrain or adventure repetition.
"Will there be many different monsters?? and not all the same
"
- The variety of monsters that are being developed for Warrior Epic
is quite large. We have some extremely creative people working on our
game. Just check out some of the concept art on our website.
"Will the characters
you buy from cash-shop be overpowered?? or also balanced?? what makes
them special ?" - Money
does not buy power in Warrior Epic. Purchasing a new class simply
opens doors for you to experience the game from a totally different
perspective. The game play will vary greatly from class to class, and
some interesting experiences will be had with some of the classes we
offer.
are
there any chance there will be some kind of bazaar or auction house?
thats definitely the best way to trade stuff, and maybe the game play
feature i value the most in any game, yet very few game offer it.
Details about the economy in Warrior Epic are TBA. I will post
information as it arrives. I must admit...I have spent many days in
the AH in WoW, so I know how entertaining that can be.
i looked
at the website's warrior section, by the way the website looks great,
and i saw 4 more warriors. Now,my doubt is if these are unlockable
through out quests or via cash-shop?
Most of the warrior classes available at launch will not cost
anything.
no but
seriously, I am a guy that loves character customization and creation
so that i can be unique.
so what are the what ways can you look
and stand out from other people besides being the class that nobody
plays.
-can you change the color of the armor,
-will there be
accesories(my spelling is next to that of a H4xz0rz) that change your
look I.E. some awesome looking helm that you can place on top of your
normal helm.
i just hate in some games people look exactly the
same cause the armor their wearing is the best they can get.
Nearly
every aspect of your warriors and your hall are customizable. Check
out our screen shots from 12/12/07 to see some of the class
variation. Armor, Weapons, Accessories,
Hair, Tattoos...just about everything can be modified in some way.
As to
having to control more then one character as you mentioned, how will
it be? Now not to bring up other games BUT I've played both sword of
the new world and guild wars both in which you control one can switch
at will to others(SoTNW), Or fully control one and have the others
work as NPCs(guild wars)?
your
warriors will reside in your Hall. When you form a party, you will
choose a warrior that will best benefit the entire team prior to
embarking on a quest. Once you enter an instance, you will not have
access to any of the resources in your Hall. "You must choose,
but choose wisely."
Will
there be special sets of gear for warriors thats give certain bonuses
or weapons that may be extremely rare?
oh yes, and the only way to get some of the awesome weapons in
Warrior Epic is by going out and getting your hands dirty.
"Is it real-time action, or is it your old sit-and-watch?"
This is not a turn based RPG...it is an action RPG, you are in the
fight and you have to participate. Sitting idly will make you a very
easy target
about the downloady .exe file thingy, will it pick where it wants
to download
the game to or can I pick where it downloads the game to, because my
c: drive has about 10mb of free space on it and I wont be able to
play if it starts dumping the game on my c: drive. Also this game
looks awesome to the 100000000 power.
The .exe will download the game files to the folder that contains the
.exe. So if you want the files downloaded to a specific drive, simply
run the .exe from a folder on that drive.
gonna be
many professions?
There are not "professions" in Warrior Epic. There is a
workshop in your Hall that is used to upgrade and add rooms to your
base. These rooms will enable you to upgrade a variety of things like
equipment and status buffs.
How long
is the Campaign mode?
We haven't put a time stamp on the campaign mode. It will be added to
constantly.
Can you
do quests that don't affect the Campaign mode? Will there be things
to do(other than PvP) after Campaign mode?
Yes, you can play "Adventure Mode" which consists of
smaller quests that can be used to strengthen your warriors and your
Hall prior to continuing with the primary campaign.
Whens it
coming out? Exact date please?
No concrete release date has been determined...but still register on
our site (get your friends to register too) so that you can be
invited to the closed beta.
Hey , as
you might know, some people like me, like to play with an specified
GENDER and not pre-made characters. i don't know if this has been
asked but ill ask anyways...
Will you be able to pick Gender
for each class?, i saw the video, but i did not see if you could pick
between gender...
Some classes will not have different genders, some classes will have
no gender at all (neither male nor female), and with some
classes...yes you will be able to choose either male or female
genders.
