I personally am a DJ in real life, and write techno, dance, D&B, R&B, and occasional throw a little original classical music mixed in with a beat. I have a fun time doing it, and it's great getting paid to do something I really enjoy. I've sold a few songs for some X-box games a few years ago, and even got some offers from contractors in Sweden to come over and perform (they were willing to pay for the fees)! Even though I turned down that offer, I may move to Sweden someday. Most the music I write is copyrighted and unfortunately I would get in trouble for sharing my music online for free (You might also figure out my real life identity). I do write stuff for free though and share it on different websites. I can give you a link to one of my hosting sites if anyone is interested in hearing a few of my songs that I haven't sold to anyone. ~Gloryfinder

Re: Any music artists here?
I'm a music artist! I write classical, new age, trance, and some rock. I perform classical, chamber music, operas, and musicals on stage- and on the opposite end of the spectrum I perform rock and bluesy/jazzy tunes in clubs. The most frustrating thing for me so far is writing for philharmonic orchestra using the computer (midi sound can't replace the real thing), knowing that with live musicians it would sound much different. Or if I'm using trance, I sometimes struggle with getting that hard pulsing bass drum to come from the various drums I already have. Send the link on- I'd like to hear some of your work, or samples thereof. When did you start writing? I'm hoping to upgrade my studio enough to return the favor. Good luck in your endeavors, and may the passion for music drive you to sublime places!

Re: Any music artists here?
Killerpineapple:I studied classical music in college. I interned with Christopher Young and B.T., both very cool guys who helped me learn that it's way to hard to succeed in their fields. I've got samples of my old stuff over at killerpineapple.com. My new stuff sounds quite a bit better because I've updated the samples in my library rather recently My musical style is very cinematic/gamish and very very conservative by classical standards. I know theory quite a bit and studied jazz briefly, and while it's nice to have a bunch of chords at my disposal, I purposefully select simple triadic harmonies. I also write a lot of arrangements and original instrumental pieces for my church. I recently did this orchestration combining Pachelbel's canon with the praise song "You Are My All in All". Good times. :)
I checked ou some of your songs. Very nice stuff. The song "Expendition" is my favorite so far. IT could use a little updating on the synth (it sounds very generic), but the it's very well written.
