Anarchy Online.. any players old or current here?

www.anarchyonline.com As some of you may have seen me post, I've played Anarchy Online for 2yrs+ as a paid player now and was curious as to whether any of you all have ever played it? It's totally different story-line/play-style compared to things such as Talisman (my current 'vacation spot' from the grind lol) but I'm president of my own guild in Anarchy Online and have even gone as far to marry my best-friend in game there.. tis a wonderful growing and expanding plot and so many mini-plots within. But anyways, here's a couple of screenies from my own personal collection.. just figured I'd see if there were any Anarchists besides me here ;) hehe
My husband and my 1yr anniversary party Feb 14th, we held it with another couple who got married that day in our city, personal friends of ours.. funny thing is we got married the year before with another couple that are married in real life and we're still going strong :) (One of the many reasons I LOVE Anarchy Online is I'm a *social player*.. I am lvl 217 on my 'main' but it's taken me almost 2 yrs to get there.. about to hit the highest lvl achievable as a paid player, which is 220 lol.. hopefully by the end of the week, we'll see.. but there's so much to do besides grinding and questing, they have their own personal radio station (well several actually but the one I listen to even outside the game is the most popular) run through the net by a group of players that DJ for a career and they have daily/nightly parties, special occasions and you can get them to come to an event like a wedding, anniversary party, birthday, holiday party.. so on so forth.. so many ways to express yourself from emotes, to the new social tab (which allows you to be fully armored but only show your social attire! bye bye ugly helmets lol).
My female best-friend and I dancing in one of the many costumes last halloween lol.. this is my 145 Nano-tech Auryin
My 'main'.. gunslinging adventurer My Enforcer.. big gallump he is lol
I had a dream once.. then reality hit me with an alarm clock and I woke up.

Re: Anarchy Online.. any players old or current here?
AO is a very cool game.
I was one of the beta testers for AO, and played for a couple of months after release. They had some MAJOR technical issues at first, almost game-breaking.
I recently downloaded the free version (no expansions except Notum Wars) and was pleased to see how stable it is now, and as a bonus all my old characters were still there! The game has a lot to offer, even for free players. You won't be PvP king as a free player, but you can still have loads of fun.
I have a soft spot for this game. In my opinion, it has probably the deepest character/skill development of any game out there even judging by today's standards. All sorts of weaponry, armors, gadgets, skills, cybernetic implants, etc. As a result, the game tends to have a high learning curve but that's fine with me. A big plus to me is that the game isn't just another sword-and-sorcery model, but is instead high-tech based.
The graphics are a bit dated now, but I hear a new engine is on the horizon. As onyxeyes noted, the game is very social-friendly with an ever-expanding storyline and rich history. I haven't logged in since the new social tab was implemented, but it looks like a cool addition.

Heya Etrigan... not sure if GSP was around during your time (the player sponsered internet radiostation) but if they were they maybe you know who Tarryk is (CEO/co-Founder) and he took one of his own songs and added it to the video including what's to come for the new ao graphics engine (as also a few parts of the AO mini-series) but anyway, here it is.. glad to find someone that appreciates AO for it's richness and indepth game play even as a froob :) And AO still does have its' moments of.. technical difficulties? lol but the Devs try to take care of it ASAP and am glad most all I know have stuck through some of those heavier moments when all ya could do is sit and chat, but as with any game on that scale.. there will always be a problem and patience is needed :) This is the video 'World of the Rose' which shows at the end, the new graphics engine video.. chose this one cause the begining of the video kind of sets the mood for things for me as far as AO goes. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FE832M_0jgM

Re: Anarchy Online.. any players old or current here?
Actually one of the reasons I love AO is the fact that it's easy to make money besides just standing outside the shops begging higher level players for handouts.. In my guild we teach the 'PIF Theory' I'm not against helping someone new to the game out.. If I can I'll make em a set of lowbie armor, get them some start-up stuff for implants & NCU, even a cloak, some bullets (if they're using guns) and health/mana(nano) kits.. I keep around 7 seperate chars that are designated 'bank toons'.. I save all the lowbie stuff, even some mid to high lvl stuff for org mates and just random people.. I almost always never ask for any of the stuff back, when they make the comment that I've come to expect when it's truly someone that is new to the game/community and not just someone rolling a froob/bank alt I'll normally get 'I can't take this, there's no way I can repay you right now or even soon', and this is where I teach the PIF Theory.. some of you may have seen/heard of the movie Pay It Forward, and that it's based on a true-story and such.. well because of my health situation I've always lived my real life believing in pay it forward.. and I carried it over with me into AO and it's so awesome a feeling to have some random person I'm helping go 'wow someone who helped me with some ammo yesterday taught me about pay it forward as well' it's nice to see things good for the community come full-circle. 'Pay It Forward' pretty much just means I don't want any money I give you back, nor the armor/NCU/weapons or whatever, the ONLY thing I ask in return is that someday when you are higher lvl and in the situation to help someone on a tough quest, or help someone fresh and new to the game as you once were with this stuff.. do it and teach that person about PIF so they can hopefully do the same for someone else someday.. so on.. so forth.. It does have its disadvantages when you get people trying to abuse your kindness but you just gotta be careful is all.. In my opinion it makes for a better RP community, ingame economy and maybe that person I helped will do something close to similiar in real life someday, which would rock even more.. but you can do just fine without a lot of money, for a lvl 216 player and guild leader people often tend to assume I have billions in credits when on a good day I have less then 25million cause it just doesn't bother me much as long as I have enough to take care of my own chars, and my 'family' then I'm happy heh, but that's just me Between missions, dungeons, quests & random hunting you can make cash easy as long as you don't go spending a ton on things you can normally mission for which incldues most weapons & nanos (spells) tho some are only quest (nodrop) or really high lvl garden buyable.. lol let me stop rambling as I'm sure I've befuddled most by now.. Toothache & 99% asleep..
