Really? I don't know man but I think mIRC is easy as cake. Cake

Now I can understand if you said you were having problems with eMule/ed2k. I mean holy hell trying to download something off that is just beyond human comprehension. Tongue Tied

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

IRC is pretty easy to deal with, but it will be troublesome to go download some additional irc client in order to get this one channel...

If they implement it in here with some java applet it would be better... But I've never seen those thigns being used too much...

So for now a Shoutbox would a nice quick solution to a non-existant problem... lol :)

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

I think you should limit the amount of posts people post at one time. But the illrelavent part well its kinda confusing because i respond to posts within a thread as well although i don't do a short lmao. I got on the forums the other day and it was flooded within 20 minutes by one person.

I don't think it should be too stricted to though.

A 15 to 30 second delay between messages should be good enough.

Edit: Err, nevermind. I think 30 seconds is too long. There should be a 10 to 15 second delay instead lol.

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

Hey Brice, are you going to add Post Flooding Restrictions or what? Wink

Looks like we've mostly agreed that there should be a time period between message posting... 15 to 20 seconds should be fine for starters :))

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

Brice 2 things. 1 Where did you go to school at for game programing and stuff like that, and two i think the idea of PFR (post flooding restriction) should hury and be implemented so people cant just post thousand of posts and possibly  be chosen for a CB tester. Make it so the min. amt. of letters are atleast 20 so people can actualy say something useful and make it so they have to wait 1-2 mins to post again.

Never get to attached to something because when it leaves you, your life will fall into oblivion.

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

Kyle. I would'nt agree with the 1-2 minutes. Becouse 30 minutes on a Forum, (If you really are bored) is like 5 minutes.. It should be 15 seconds. MAX 30.

    |And letters are like| that with spaces. Precicly. And I agree with that. Not fun to if a person with 1251826758126541264 posts with single words like "rofl", "lmao", "lol", "haha" or "Smile". It's okay if you do it every 75 post or something if you really havn't anything to say.

A good post would take around 5 minutes to read and write. It shouldn't take less than 2 minutes to post one unless you've already read over the posts before or it is short already. People just look at something and than post post post.

They usually look at the title and just post away. I've seen some really good posts and it takes me sometime to read through it and post a good reply.

LOOK AT THIS. I picked one person to use as an example. you decide Is this person Flooding? the things they say are about 1-2 sentences long, but mostly 1.

here is their post time. same month same date. I took off the month and date to keep the person's identity a secert because they are still active on the forums.

    2008 8:48 PM 2008 8:47 PM   2008 8:44 PM 2008 8:43 PM 2008 8:43 PM   2008 8:42 PM 2008 8:41 PM.2008 8:39 PM   2008 8:38 PM I laughted really hard when I saw their post to this post because the post they posted on took me over 10 minutes to read while trying to read fast. 2008 8:37 PM 2008 8:37 PM   2008 8:35 PM 2008 8:33 PM 2008 8:31 PM   2008 8:29 PM 2008 8:28 PM 2008 8:27 PM   2008 8:25 PM 2008 8:24  PM2008 8:23 PM   2008 8:22 PM 2008 8:20 PM

I do agree with you zagreos, on the point that "A good post would take around 5 minutes to read and write". But there are many people that don't fee like spending 5 minutes to do any of those actions... Besides on many occassions you just have to make something clear to the person that responds to your post. So you cannot write more than a couple of lines... It would be nice of people go over their posts and check them for errors... But not many do that ... So 30 sec time out between posts will work well... It will slow down the "spammers" and it will give enough time to read the post before yours...

P.S.: Your example, shows a spammer... How come there are so many time stamps though?

I went through all their posts in one ahour and coped and pasted all that hour's post. Those times ARE NOT fake.

Yes you have a point in just posting to answer a question. but it is unlikely that there would be that many posts with question ATM to answer. I'm actually looking for questions to answer and couldn't find any good ones I could answer.

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

I do understand you zag. And I have a solution for the problem...

Usually (at this stage) people ask many questions about the game and everyone is craving to answer. Some people are wrong, most are right... Good. In my opinion all of these questions should be answered by "authorized" people. For example, they could assign a team of moderators.  People that have time to spare and keep a watch at the forums. These people should be able to take care of most game-related questions. So post-flooding for them can be removed (that's doable right?). For everybody else (regular members) who want to express their opinion on the various topics like "Economy", "Death System",  and such there should be post-flooding 30-45 sec time out after a post. May be even minimum amount of characters (smilies excluded)... This could potentially solve the spamming problem. If it's considered a problem at this point... What do you think?

Re: Should Post Flooding Be Allowed?

Since most people agreed that post flooding should not be allowed, when will the changes take place?
