The forums can be a strange and difficult, though invaluble, tool to
master, and figuring out all of the little nuances on your own is a
nearly impossible task. So I have decided to write out a guide to useing them
to their full potential. If you have any questions, or you want me to add
something, reply and I'll get to work on it.
1. Ranks/Post Count/Points
2.Making Posts do what you want them to do. (images and links)
3. Searching (for users or information)
4. Other Random Tidbits
1. Ranks/Post Count/Points: This is the thing I get asked about the most.
How do Ranks/Post Count/Points relate to one another?
Ranks depend purely on your post count (disregarding Spamland, as nothing
you do in there boosts post count or points). Points are just a marker for how
good your posts are. So Post Count is Quantanty and Points are Quality.
You get 5 points for making a post, 15 for every person who responds, and even
more when other people give you stars.
Here is a list of all the current forum rankings, though only posted to the
current highest obtained rank.
Post count from 0 to 5

Post count from 6 to 25
Post count from 26 to 45
Post count from 46 to 75

Post count from 76 to 110
Post count from 111 to 140
Post count from 141 to 175
Post count from 176 to 200

Post count from 201 to 235
Post count from 236 to 275
Post count from 276 to 500
Post count from 500 to 800
Post count from 800 to 1100
Post count from 1100 to 2000
Next Rank: Who knows?
And those little dashes under your name say where you are in relation to everyone else. All full is top ten, and it goes down from there. Put your cursor over the image to see where you stand : )
2.Making Posts do what you want them to do.
How to insert an image: Get the URL of the image you want to post (the thing that starts with http://www) then click the picture of the tree in the post tool bar above where you type your post (next to the smiley face). Then just paste the URL into the spot that says URL and click Insert at the bottom (the rest of the fields will be filled automatically) and you can re-size your image after it is in your post by clicking it and dragging the edges.
How to Insert a Link: Type out the text that you want to be click-able in your post then select it by dragging your cursor over it. With the text still selected, click the picture of a connected chain link in the tool bar. In the window that pops up paste the URL that you want the link to go to. I think its good to select the Open in a New Window option in Target so people don't have to leave the forum page, but that's up to you. Click insert and you are done. If you want to get rid of a link, select the link text and choose the image of a broken link in the toolbar.
Those are the main questions I get asked, and if you know HTML, you can use HTML in your posts by clicking the icon that says HTML in the post toolbar. This will bring up a screen that allows you to do all of your editing in HTML.
3. Searching (for users or information)
You can find out a lot by using the search bar up in the top right corner of the forums. Want to find a tutorial, or maybe you want an invite to CB? just type "Tutorial" or "Invite" and all the posts with tutorials or invites in them will pop up.Make sure you search for your topic before making another one, it keeps the forums a clean and it becomes a nicer place for everyone to hang out.
You can also find out a lot about the users by using the "View All Users" link in the right hand menu of the forums. By playing around with the settings, you can find all of the Sr. Mods, Moderators, or CB Testers, you can list them by # of posts, alphabetically, their email, the date they joined, or the date they last logged on. You can also use wild card characters. say you want everyone's name that starts with PS, you could type PS* in the search and everyone who's name started with PS would be listed. Works with Guide_* as well to find all of the in game guides.
4. Other Random Tidbits
Next time you are on a Subforum page, check out the "More Options" button below all of the threads. There you can change the order in which things are displayed, use the Date or Content Filter, or set your email updates.
Make sure you select all and copy (ctrl-a and ctrl-c) your post before posting it as to insure you don't get kicked off the site before posting your thread. And if you are ever kicked back out to the main WE page, you have been logged off, log back in before going back to the forums.
If there is anything else you were wondering about, just post a reply, and I'll respond ASAP
Have a nice day
- Jen
